Thank you for this well-researched and thoughtful update. I can’t say I was worried as I don’t follow “normal” news (for reasons I think most people can understand) but the fact that I can rely on you to provide a fair, logical (and timely) explanation of these events is worth the subscription. Thanks again, and hope you are doing well.

The delay is interesting for sure - seems like it would have happened months ago if the case was a slam dunk, so to speak. I appreciate your response and comments!

I've been called for a grand jury before. We all got to essentially choose if we wanted to serve or not (hard pass for me). Everything you say is correct. And the people who serve typically want to serve, so it's very different from a normal jury. I agree the delay is interesting. But this, imo, is simply procedural and nothing has changed. I think some younger folks are having difficulty because they don't understand the process.

Thank you for your even tempered thoughts on the indictment. I think there is something about the indictment delay that was providing some hope that the feds would let the state keep it. I expect the state case will be nol prossed any day following his arraignment on the federal charges. The intense feelings hearken back to your earlier article about the biological underpinnings of Mangione's support. I felt like my own kid got indicted. I also felt like any hope that there could be change to the capitalist machine was completely eliminated. Things have to be bleak for such resounding support for violence by mostly mild onlookers - seems like they are only getting bleaker.
